The announcement was made at the prestigious 2015 Hong Kong - Australia Business Association (NSW Chapter) Awards which recognises NSW companies striving for excellence in international trade with Hong Kong.
Hong Kong government's secretary for financial service and the Treasury, Professor KC Chan, said UOW was recognised for its contribution to the region through international education.
In accepting the award at Four Seasons Hotel in Sydney, UOW's deputy vice-chancellor Global Strategy professor Joe Chicharo said it was the result of more than two decades of strategic engagement with Hong Kong and greater China.
Prof Chicharo said the recognition confirmed UOW's position as an old and trusted partner well regarded for contributing significantly to higher education.
And he said it came just months after UOW received recognition in the 2015 AustCham Westpac Australia-China Business Awards.
The latest win comes as UOW became the first overseas-based comprehensive university to enter Hong Kong, selected to take custodianship of the Community College of City University Hong Kong (CCCU).
