The equation is simple for the South Coast on Sunday - lose to Rockdale City and face an early off-season.
With four points already separating the Wolves and the fifth-placed outfit on the ladder, anything but three points would put hopes of a remarkable finals appearance in jeopardy.
The Suns occupy the last finals position but could come crashing back to the pack if they fall against the Wolves at Ilinden Sports Centre with three rounds remaining.
Wolves coach Jacob Timpano is confident his troops are up to the challenge.
"With our form I think we are definitely good enough to go up there and get a result," he said.
"In the games we have been in charge, I don't think we have been outplayed once. We definitely know that we are good enough to get a result but even though it is a big game we still have to take it a week at a time.
"There is no extra pressure on our boys because no-one really expected us to be in this position, so it is just a bonus if we get the result and be there around finals time."
A win for the Wolves would ensure the race for the top five keeps on in earnest.
There are five teams who still hold claims for the last finals spot on which Rockdale holds a firm grip.
The Suns have been the form side in the competition for the second half of the campaign since parting ways with former coach Branko Culina and adding several high profile signings.
Former Sydney FC keeper Ivan Necevski joined the club as well as former A-League striker Dylan Macallister.
"They are on a roll. They are the standout team in the league," Timpano said.
"They have gone from the bottom of the league to well in a finals spot.
"The coach change and the new signings have done wonders for them.
"They are in the box seat so it is going to be difficult.
"It is a huge game for us because we can close that gap and put ourselves closer to a finals spot with a win on Sunday."
If South Coast can triumph, they'll set up an enthralling final two matches of the season.
With matches against Manly United and Marconi remaining, on paper the Wolves have one of the more favourable draws to finish the campaign.
