How much is it? Podcasts are free and come in both audio or video formats, though a lot are audio only. If you have an interest in a particular topic, you're likely be able to find shows dedicated to it. Podcasts don't come pre-installed in iOS, so you'll want to download the free podcasts app from the App Store.
Installing podcasts. When you install the podcasts app you'll have an option to sync your podcasts between devices. If you switch from your iPhone to iPad mini, the podcasts app will use your Apple ID to track your location in the podcast. It can be frustrating if you have to start searching through an hour-long show for where you left off. Simply click on "Sync between devices" and Apple's podcast app will keep track of where you left off.
Subscribing to podcasts. There are many ways to subscribe to podcasts in iTunes. In the podcasts app they've integrated the podcasts section of the iTunes Store. Click on the "Featured" tab to reveal the storefront for podcasts. The Categories link at the top right is helpful for finding podcasts specific to your interests. When you locate a podcast you like, press the episode number to start streaming the show. To download an episode, select the down arrow to the right.
There are other third party apps if you prefer, including Overcast, Pocket Casts, Downcast, Instacast and Castro. All can be found in the App Store.
