The new trading agreement will see Kollaras brands become available across Australia.
Chief operating officer John Kollaras said the alliance would make the Kollaras business one of the industry’s largest privately-owned companies and market leading suppliers.
‘‘We anticipate the business will double in size over the next two to three years,’’ he said.
Most of the new jobs will be at the head office at Albion Park.
‘‘It is the centre of what we do in terms of administration,’’ Mr Kollaras said.
‘‘So there are lots of jobs and opportunities. We are currently recruiting for about six to 10 new positions. A lot of that is in marketing, operations, sales and account management .’’
Mr Kollaras said the partnership would extend the Illawarra company’s reach into 12 distribution centres nationally.
The only prior limitation was the difficulty of servicing clients in Western Australia and South Australia from the local warehouse.
But from October 1 that can be done through a national distribution network.
‘‘It gives us access to around 12,000 accounts where at the moment we have access to about 1200,’’ Mr Kollaras said.
Not only does the partnership give the Kollaras business the opportunity to reach more customers throughout Australia no matter where they are located geographically, but access to many more independent operators.
‘‘The independents still represent 50 per cent of retail sales in the Australian market,’’ Mr Kollaras said.
‘‘But they are often quite difficult to service. What happens with us going into the ALM network is our offering can now truly reach the whole Australian market.’’
The Kollaras company supplies everything from restaurants to ships but the larger national distribution channel won’t require more warehouse space.
‘‘This warehouse is mostly focused on our duty free, export and international business,’’ Mr Kollaras said.
