The butcher closed his two stores last month to be there for his 22-month-old son, Harrison who has neuroblastoma – a solid tumour on his right kidney and other major organs.
Having gone through five rounds of chemotherapy, had his body start to shut down, and a six-hour surgery to remove 80 per cent of the tumour, Harrison has spent most of his time at Princess Margaret Hospital since being diagnosed at 18 months of age.
There is still no end in sight, with the family still waiting on further treatment.
When those close to the family heard Mr Williams closed his businesses for his family and what they were going through, they banded together to organise a ball to raise money for the family.
“Andrew would be up at 2am to do what he needed to do for the shops before heading up to Princess Margaret Hospital for Harrison,” organiser Michelle Jones said.
“It all got too much for him. His main goal now is just to be there for Harrison.
“This money will help Andrew and his wife Emma put food on the table and pay the mortgage.
“Andrew has given so much to the community over the last five years and now it's our chance to give back while they face tough times ahead.”
