Sydney FC has bypassed WIN Stadium for their A-League clash with the Perth Glory, announcing the more spacious ANZ Stadium has won hosting rights for the round four clash.
Wollongong was considered the frontrunner for the clash only a couple of weeks ago, but the Sky Blues’ coup of signing Alessandro Del Piero prompted a change of thinking.
Sydney FC chief executive Tony Pignata and captain Brett Emerton made the announcement this morning.
The two-time A-League champions have been inundated with membership requests following Del Piero’s signature with expectation their first two matches in Sydney will be sold out.
The Glory’s visit on October 28 will be the first ever A-League match played at ANZ Stadium.
Sydney FC’s regular home ground of Allianz Stadium is unavailable that week due to the playing surface being re-laid.
