The Road to 90 - Pre-Wedding Film graced the internet with its presence on Tuesday, showing a squad of special effects artists remaking the happy couple as visions of their older selves.
‘‘We thought it would be good to look into the future and possibly see what each other could look like,’’ Mrs Mehajer says at the outset.
The ageing process depicted therein is not a pretty one, a far cry from the exuberant glow of youth on display at the ‘‘wedding of the century’’ that stopped Sydney at the weekend.
At age 50, Mr Mehajer's face is flushed, while the bride - perhaps optimistically wrinkle-free - has developed a grey bob. The pair reveal that by the time they hit the big 5-0, they intend to have five children.
At 70, the groom's beard is greying and the scourge of time has taken its toll on their previously smooth skin. By 90, the newlyweds are unrecognisable, with a weather-beaten, crinkled facade.
‘‘I feel like I've had a rough life,’’ Mrs Mehajer says, examining herself.
The Mehajers have reinvented the wheel when it comes to wedding videos, ditching the shaky, handheld compilation recorded by a drunk uncle for a series of professionally-made epics.
The first instalment, filmed largely at the University of Sydney, told the story of ‘‘a man who has it all’’ whose life is ‘‘turned upside down’’ by love.
Seven years of courtship and parental tears were condensed into a two-minute trailer that took 15 hours to film and a week to edit.
But that was only the beginning of the burgeoning film franchise. Iconic Films on Monday released a six-minute video recorded on the wedding day and edited in time to be shown at the reception that night. It depicted the outlandish proceedings in all their glory: from close-ups of the bride's Christian Louboutin heels to the helicopters, motorcades, red carpets and marching bands that so irked the good burghers of Frances Street, Lidcombe.
The third production was uploaded to YouTube on Tuesday by Ches Fx Wedding Films. And upon its unveiling, one can only ask: what's next?
Mr Mehajer, a property developer who is also the deputy mayor of Auburn, has already flagged his intention to be "the next superstar", telling Kyle Sandilands and Jackie ‘‘O’’ Henderson on radio: ‘‘Kyle, you've got to hook me up with Hollywood, mate.’’
In the meantime, the newlyweds appear very much in love, soaking each other with platitudes in The Road to 90.
‘‘It’s nice to see each other looking old because we always said before that we’d grow old together,’’ she says. ‘‘I think if we stick by each other we can get through anything.’’
