Dubbed 'AUSTRALIA'S BEST WEDDING' by the groom himself, Auburn Deputy Mayor Salim Mehajer and his bride Aysha are a portmanteau away from becoming Australia's Kimye.

The epic nuptials could not have been any more garish, glitzy and perfectly suited for reality television had they been choreographed by the stage mums of Toddlers and Tiaras.

"Kim Kardashian launched her career with a sex tape. This wedding is maybe a cleaner version of a sex tape," said Sydney-based celebrity publicist Max Markson.

"It's got outlandish characters, a spectacular looking wedding, I'm sure they've upset half the people in Auburn. They've probably divided the community, so yes ... it could be made for TV. It would make great television," he said.

So is 'Salysha' about to swap local government for small screen celebrity?

Let's review the evidence:

1. Floyd Mayweather's got nothing on Salim, 'Motherf%#er'

Thems fighting words uttered by the groom after he leapt out of a helicopter on his big day.

The local councillor who once made a bid for State parliament, has the twinkle of stardom in his eyes.

Even more telling was his request to radio host Kyle Sandilands on KIIS1065 earlier this week..

"Kyle you've got to hook me up with Hollywood, mate," Salim asked Australia's potbellied version of Ryan Seacrest, who is the producer of reality TV gold including Keeping Up With The Kardashians and its many spin offs.

"I want to be the next superstar," said Salim, prophetically.

2. That infamous pre-wedding video

It was the perfect teaser trailer for an epic prime time love story: a 12-part summer season epic with an optional seven episode extender.

Preened and buffed to celluloid perfection, Salim and Aysha were shown as star-crossed lovers who would let nothing stand in the way of their love.

And like any good reality TV show, they weren't going to let reality get in the way of a cracking storyline.

Salim's alma mater may have been the University of Technology, Sydney with its utilitarian Jenga-building, but the University of Sydney's austere quadrangle made for a more appropriate set piece for his coiffed on-screen persona.

3. The ultimate launch party

This was Australia's first glimpse of its new 'it' couple and front page news: fireworks, four helicopters, a $50 million convoy of 50 luxury cars, a procession of rowdy bikies, a lavish reception, a seven layer wedding cake, a chart-topping songstress, and a bride in a 22kg dress weighed down by more than 3000 pearls and crystals.

And check out the wall of flowers. Reminiscent of Kim and Kanye's wedding day and the now infamous image of the superstar couple that broke the record for the most liked photo on instagram

The entire extravagant affair was broadcast for all of Australia to see in an impeccably crafted wedding video, the work of a same-day professional edit.

If you missed it on the evening news and the morning talk shows, the videos posts on the groom's Facebook page are racking up tens of thousands of views.

Speaking of the groom's public page, Salim keeps his followers updated by posting a new professional photograph of the newly married couple every few hours.

The photographs are often accompanied by cursive captions. Sanguine words of love.

Or are they catchphrases? A tagline for the DVD box set? "Salim and Aysha: one heart, one love, one destiny".

There's also a photograph of the couple posing with rapper Shad Gregory Moss, aka Bow Wow with the caption 'coming soon...'

Is a theme song in the works?

4. Product Placement

From the close-ups of the groom's diamond-encrusted rolex to the procession of high end sports cars, and the bride's designer dress, it's clear these two know how to court a brand endorsement deal.

5. The value of 'returnables'

It's the buzzword of serial television executives. Who's got that star quality that will lure an audience back season after season?

Salim and Aysha proved they have staying power- at least 70 years' worth - in a third video that documented the couple donning stage makeup to age them into their octogenarian alter egos.

And there's plenty of material for a spin off.

When asked what he'd tell his grandchildren, Salim said "I'd just tell them to follow grandma's and grandpa's step."

6. A strong fan base

Just look at the crowd that turned up at Auburn Council on Wednesday night to cheer on the Deputy Mayor, who was slapped with a $220 fine by council for his "conspicuous display of wealth"; the $50 million wedding cavalcade that forced police to close down local streets.

But despite all appearances, Markson, a hopeless romantic, doesn't think the couple were angling for their own TV show.

"I think they just wanted to have a wedding. He has the money to splash around and he wanted to be outrageous, and thumb his nose at authority and that's what he did," he said.

But if Salysha knocked on Markson's door, would he sign them?

"They'd probably be able to teach me a few things," he said.

Attempts to contact the groom for comment went unanswered. Busy enjoying his honeymoon? Or a media blackout before the pilot episode launch?
