Flower power will be out in force this Friday in support of the Cancer Council's Daffodil Day.
Illawarra residents are encouraged to wear a daffodil pin or visit a stall on August 28 in support of the fight against cancer.
Cancer Council community engagement manager Jennifer Menchin said she was happy that there will be volunteers from Helensburgh to Kiama manning the stalls.
"This year we're thrilled to have Edmund Rice College supporting Daffodil Day by running a stand in Keiraville, while other schools including Smiths Hill High and St Brigid's will be having in-school activities," Ms Menchin said.
Funds raised from Daffodil Day will go towards local support services, prevention, information and advocacy programs, and research.
There will be some fun for the children, who can meet Dougal Bear, the Daffodil Day mascot and have their photo taken with him at Eat Street Markets in Crown Street Mall on Thursday evening, August 27.
The Cancer Council is entering its 20th year of a partnership with Coles, with 100 per cent of the proceeds raised from merchandise and the sale of fresh daffodils at Coles going towards state-based Cancer Council support services.
Staff at Coles stores in Dapto and Wollongong will be "painting the store yellow on the day" by donning their brightest yellow clothes and putting up yellow decorations. Berkeley and Warrawong stores will also be supporting Daffodil Day by selling merchandise.
