Fun, food and getting to know your neighbours are the main attractions at the Dapto Community Day on Saturday.
The annual Dapto Art and Craft Show has been renamed and transformed into one-day event from 9am-4pm on August 29 at Dapto Ribbonwood Centre.
Activities include free jumping castle, face painting and fairy floss, children's craft, fire brigade and police car displays, stalls, art and craft, performances, raffles, barbecue and more.
It is being run by not-for-profit organisation CareWays Community to bring the community together and showcase the work of CareWays.
CareWays Community Dapto community development officer Joanne Reed said it was an opportunity for residents who attend their creative activities to exhibit their work and for other groups to share their talents.
A men's Koori group will host the barbecue and Careways volunteers will run a cafe.
The work of local artists will be on display in a pop-up gallery and there will be stalls selling jewellery, craft supplies, timberwork and clothes. Local performers will be showcased in Heininger Hall.
Ms Reed said they wanted to reach a broader demographic than just those interested in art and craft.
"We want people to know all the valuable work CareWays does in the community ... people don't know we offer Meals on Wheels, people don't know we do assisted transport for disabled schoolchildren," she said.
CareWays also offers in-home services for the frail and elderly; a free community breakfast every Monday and Thursday; Legal Aid outreach, and administers Horsley Neighbourhood Centre.
Dapto Community Day is also supported by NSW Department of Family and Community Services and Wollongong City Council.
