The Flinders Public School girls' team and Gerringong Public School boys gave their best in a day to remember at the Paul Kelly Cup AFL Finals at the iconic Sydney Cricket Ground.

The South Coast primary schools advanced to the finals through a series of qualifying rounds including regional play-offs in Wollongong and a Sydney South round-robin finals at Loftus last month.
Gerringong won one of their three games in the finals, with the unbeaten Willoughby PS finishing as the top side in their pool.
Gerringong were very competitive in a 24-7 loss to Willoughby in their opening game, while they had six scoring shots to one in a 1.5 (11) to 0.1 (1) win over Kempsey West PS in round two.
Gerringong were beaten by Belmont Christian 38-14 in their final pool game, leaving Gerringong, Belmont and Kempsey West all with one pool win from three games behind the undefeated Willoughby.
In the girls' competition, Flinders tried hard in all three games but didn't manage a win in a tough section.
Flinders were drawn against Yamba, Clemton and Cherrybrook and did well in every game.
Wagga Wagga-based Henschke Primary School beat Willoughby PS 4.6 (30) to 3.1 (19) in an exciting boys' final.
Bathurst primary school Holy Family Kelso won the girls' competition, beating Cherrybrook PS 2.5 (17) to 1.1 (7) in the final.
Teams from as far afield as Coffs Harbour and Albury played in the SCG finals.
Sixty-one South Coast teams entered the 2015 Paul Kelly Cup, which is the largest AFL primary schools competition in NSW with more than 1000 teams and 15,000 students in years five and six taking part each year.
