They only take small steps, and are sometimes a bit unsteady on their feet, but children from the University of Wollongong’s Kids’ Uni will be doing their bit to raise money for KidzWish when the childcare centre hosts its inaugural walkathon on September 12.

The walkathon was created by staff at Kids’ Uni to bring children, families and staff together to help sick, disabled and disadvantaged children in the Illawarra.
Kids’ Uni director Naomi Sheridan said the walkathon would see participants guided around a seven-station course, with interactive games planned at each stop.
‘‘We’ve had such a fantastic response from our children and parents to the walkathon, everyone is really excited to have some fun while having a bit of a campus tour at the same time and most importantly helping out children in the community who need it most,’’ Ms Sheridan said.
The event runs from 9am- 1.30pm and costs $10 per child to participate (adults are free).
