Revitalised with a smarter, cleaner and more modern design that's easy to read, the merger of the popular mastheads will provide readers and advertisers with a proudly local perspective on community news, sport, entertainment, issues and events in suburbs across the Illawarra - from Helensburgh in the north to Dunmore in the south.
The first print edition of The Advertiser & Lake Times is due to be published on Wednesday, September 16.
Kim Treasure, group managing editor of the Illawarra and south-west NSW operations of Fairfax Media's Australian Community Media division, said the free weekly newspaper had a new name and a new look but the commitment to local news was unchanged.
"Bringing together two trusted mastheads will help secure a sustainable future for community news in the region and showcase its wonderful people, places and events to a wider local audience," Ms Treasure said.
Group sales manager Lisa Rodgers said the distribution of the publication would deliver advertisers improved opportunities to connect with local audiences.
The reach of The Advertiser & Lake Times extends across the Wollongong and Shellharbour local government areas and includes such suburbs as Albion Park, Albion Park Rail, Austinmer, Balgownie, Bellambi, Berkeley, Brownsville, Bulli, Central Wollongong, Clifton, Coalcliff, Coledale, Coniston, Cordeaux Heights, Corrimal, Cringila, Dapto, Fairy Meadow, Farmborough Heights, Figtree, Gwynneville, Helensburgh, Horsley, Kanahooka, Keiraville, Kemblawarra, Koonawarra, Lake Heights, Mangerton, Mt Keira, Mt Kembla, Mt Ousley, Mt Pleasant, Mt St Thomas, Oak Flats, Port Kembla, Primbee, Russell Vale, Scarborough, Shellharbour, Stanwell Park, Stanwell Tops, Tarrawanna, Thirroul, Towradgi, Unanderra, Warrawong, Warilla, West Dapto, West Wollongong, Wollongong, Windang, Wombarra and Woonona.
