The Reverend Geoffrey Flynn offers spiritual support for those affected by suicide.
Mr Flynn will lead a suicide memorial service at Wesley Uniting Church on the Mall on Thursday to coincide with World Suicide Prevention Day.
The I hold you in the light service on September 10 starts at 1pm and offers a safe space to remember people who have died as a result of suicide, to support those touched by such tragedy and to intercede for those who are at risk.
"This inclusive gathering is designed to speak to people who do not want a religious or spiritual context for ritual, as well as those who do," Rev Flynn said.
Pastoral staff and crisis supporters Lifeline South Coast will be readily available during the service.
"Community events such as these provide an opportunity for people who have been touched by suicide to acknowledge and reflect in a spirit of comfort and hope," Lifeline South Coast chief executive Grahame Gould said.
People can light a candle in memory of a loved one during the event.
Meantime, an Out of the Shadows and into the Light suicide prevention walk will be held at Reddall Reserve, Warilla, on September 12 at 10.30am.
Headspace Wollongong youth reference group organised the first event held at Belmore Basin on September 3.
The walks, being held across Australia, highlight suicide as the leading cause of death for Australians under the age of 44.
Headspace Wollongong community engagement officer Clementina Velasco said they wanted to get the message out that it was OK to ask for help.
