The Wollongong NRE Hawks hung on for a 64-61 win over the New Zealand Breakers in Dunedin tonight.
Guard Rhys Martin top-scored for the Hawks with 15 points. He was one of four Hawks in double figures with Larry Davidson (13), Oscar Forman (11) and new recruit Lance Hurdle (10).
The Hawks were never headed after the first minute of the game before a packed house - the second of the three-game pre-season tour by the Hawks.
The Breakers were led by centre Alex Pledger with 18 points on a night when the defending premiers could only manage to make 33 per cent of the shots.
