THERE were goals galore, penalty shootouts and late winners in Football South Coast's biggest weekend of the season, the junior grand finals at Ocean Park.
Woonona Junior Football Club were excellent hosts as the top boys and girls teams battled for grand-final glory.
There were heaps of goals in some of the boys' deciders, with Thirroul a standout, finding their scoring form in a 4-2 win over Wollongong Olympic in the division-one under 15s final.
Figtree and Corrimal needed a penalty shootout after a 1-1 draw in their under 14s division-one grand final, with Figtree winning the shootout 4-3.
Figtree and Bulli were also locked at 2-2 in the 14s division-four decider, with Figtree again winning 4-3 in the tense penalty shootout.
Helensburgh also won a penalty shootout after a 1-1 draw with Shellharbour in under 16s division two.
In the under 13 competitions, four clubs shared grand-final glory through the four divisions.
Highlands won the division-one grand final with a 1-0 win over Shellharbour; Lakeside beat Balgownie 1-0 in division two while Wollongong Olympic defeated Russell Vale in division three by the same score.
Figtree also won an under 13s boys' grand final with a 2-0 victory over Corrimal in division four.
Plenty of goals and strong performances also featured in the girls' grand finals on Sunday.
The Woonona under 15s division-one team produced a tremendous display in a 3-0 win over Warilla, while in the under 15s division-two decider Unanderra edged out Helensburgh 3-2.
The Shellharbour and Russell Vale under 12s division-one grand final was especially tight, with Shellharbour winning 2-1.
Woonona's home ground Ocean Park was crammed with players, parents, officials and supporters over both Saturday and Sunday in a fitting climax to the season.
Well done to all teams in the grand finals. Summer soccer is now just a few weeks away.
