Both teenagers earned the Wollongong City gymnasts of the year award for 2014 with Daniel representing NSW at the Australian Championship this year and Payton competing in the Border Challenge event at Caloundra in Queensland.
In qualification for the state titles, Daniel finished seventh overall in Level 7, including a win on pommel horse.
At the NSW Championships, he went on to achieve fifth in pommel horse, sixth in rings and third in vault to place fifth overall.
The performance earned Daniel, 16, selection in the NSW state team to compete at the Australian Championships in Melbourne last May.
In her state championship qualification, 15-year-old Payton was ranked second overall in Level 8, including a win on the floor routine.
She then went on to achieve a fifth in vault, sixth in beam and third in floor to finish sixth overall after two days competition at state championships.
Following her excellent results Payton earned a place in the NSW state team.
At the Border Challenge held in June, teams from NSW, Queensland, ACT, Victoria and Western Australia went head-to-head in levels 6 to 9, with NSW's Level 8 team winning the gold medal on the first day of competition.
On the second day Payton was named as the floor champion.
The talented teenagers are making great strides and showing what dedicated training, coaching and study can achieve.
