Marshall suffered the injury after being twisted awkwardly in a tackle from former New Zealand teammate Greg Eastwood in the 54th minute of the Dragons golden-point loss to the Bulldogs on Saturday.
He attempted to battle on after being strapped on the run but was forced from the field and took no further part in the match. He is yet to undergo scans as medical staff wait for the swelling around the injury to go down.
Marshall has made no secret of his ambition to earn a Test recall for the Kiwis end of season tour and the odds of him earning a call-up shortened when golden boot winner Shaun Johnson suffered a season ending injury in round 20.
Marshall will hope to avoid surgery that would rule him out of the New Zealand tour and delay his return to preseason with the Dragons in November.
