A gathering at Turkish Paradise on Friday saw speeches made that left Mr Jones in no doubt of how highly regarded he was.
There was some roasting but underlying it all were words of encouragement.
Edmiston Jones Architects business partner Steven Bayer has worked with Mr Jones for 29 years and described him as a great leader whose principles had not changed.
He described him as a clear thinking ideas man whose greatest asset was compassion.
‘’One of his great abilities is to see the big picture,’’ he said.
When Mr Jones was elected president of the NSW chapter of the Institute of Architects 18 years ago no one from outside an inner city practice had held the position in 127 years.
It proved someone from a regional area could.
Mr Bayer said Mr Jones was devoted to and passionate about improving society and community.
He has been involved in building projects in developing nations, charity sponsorship, feeding the homeless and the CEO Sleepout.
‘’His latest love is the Property Council,’’ Mr Bayer said.
