The 211cm, 115-kilo giant has been in good touch at both ends of the floor so far this preseason, top-scoring with 23 points in the Hawks 105-95 victory over Adelaide at Shoalhaven on Saturday. 

He did the same with 35 points against touring US college outfit Cal Golden Bears at the Snakepit last month and picked up 17 points in the second of two clashes with Cairns two weeks ago.

Saturday’s hit-out against the 36rs was the Hawks first with their full 10-man roster on deck.

Fellow recruit Kirk Penney produced 17 points in his first appearance for the club while Kevin Lisch (17) Tim Coenraad (11) and Rhys Martin (10) all reached double figures.

Ogilvy found plenty to like about the performance.

‘‘I thought we played really well as a team,’’ Ogilvy said.

‘‘We were able to go inside against them a little bit and I got some good shots. 

‘‘Then we were also able to spread the floor and down the stretch the guys hit some open threes.

‘‘We showed that our attack is very spread and we can get good shots all over the court.

‘‘Kirk’s only been here for two weeks and he’s fit into the puzzle perfectly.

‘‘The roster came together late but I think we’re a really good team and we’ve got a lot of potential this year which is going to be exciting.’’

The Hawks struggled for inside presence last year with former Boomer Luke Neville never quite clicking in the Hawks intricate system.

Ogilvy’s had no such trouble getting involved but said that the Hawks greatest strength their scoring potential across the floor.

‘‘I think it’s one of the big strengths of our team that we have a lot of people who can put the ball in the basket,’’ Ogilvy said.

‘‘Each game is just going to be about getting the ball to whoever has the hot hand.

‘‘The guys are getting me the ball in a position where I can really do something good with it.

‘‘Bevo’s system is definitely helping with that. He knows me pretty well and getting the ball in places where I can do good things with it is the biggest thing for me.’’

The Hawks face Perth in their next preseason game at Moss Vale on Sunday and will be boosted by the return of head coach Rob Beveridge who returns from conducting coaching seminars in Asia on Thursday.

The Wildcats, who are yet to face NBL opposition this preseason, will play Sydney on Saturday ahead of their clash with the Hawks on Sunday.

‘‘They’re one of the favourites so it’ll be good to go up against them and see how we compare,’’ Ogilvy said.
