Close to 100 people turned out on Saturday for a fitness boot camp at Woonona Bulli Fitness Centre to support the work of Zambi Wildlife Retreat.
And it was also an example of the good form of the Cronulla Sharks at the pointy end of the Rugby League season.
Organiser Traci Griffiths said the two biggest auction items, a television and a signed Jersey, were donated by the club that enjoyed a big win over Souths on Sunday to book a place in the semi-final against the Cowboys in Townsville.
''Luke Lewis, from the Cronulla Sharks, and his wife Sonia Lewis have been big supporters of Zambi Wildlife Retreat,'' Ms Griffiths said.
''Sonia is organising the Zambi Gala fundraiser in November.''
Ms Griffiths said the day was made possible by gym manager Shawn Condello who did so much work leading up to and during the event.
Radio personality Bianca Dye and entertainer Rikki Organ were also heavily involved as emcee and auctioneer.
Ms Griffiths runs a business in Woonona called Miyow & Barkley designer pet accessories but her other passion is animal rescue.
She is one of three directors of the volunteer run Zambi Wildlife Retreat, an animal welfare centre which rescues, rehabilitates, re-homes and shelters many species.
The main focus is on exotic animals needing retirement from zoo breeding programs, circus and private ownership.
But Zambi Wildlife Retreat also provides care and shelter to domestic animals, farm animals and native wildlife.
Everyone involved is just as devoted to animal rescue as Ms Griffiths.
They just love and have a passion for caring for animals of all kinds.
LOTL Rescue is the founding company of the Zambi Wildlife Retreat which runs as a registered charity.
