Stuart Park to host annual Memory Walk tomorrow

More than 500 people are expected to pound the pavement around Wollongong’s Stuart Park tomorrow to help support dementia sufferers and their carers and families.

They will be joined by McLeod’s Daughter’s actress Doris Younane, who is an Alzheimer’s Australia NSW Ambassador, for the annual Illawarra Memory Walk.

The walk, which kicks off at 8.30am at the park, has already raised more than $18,000 for Alzheimer’s Australia NSW.

Funds raised will go towards supporting Alzheimer’s Australia NSW Memory Van visits to the Illawarra.

While the 7.5km Memory Walk will be the highlight of the event, there will also be a 2km family walk, and those not already registered can do so at the event from 8am.

In the Wollongong area, an estimated 5,000 people live with dementia, which is expected to grow to more than 16,000 by 2050.
