The council said it is a requirement that landowners have their house number clearly displayed and visible from the road to ensure that emergency service personnel are able to effectively locate the property.
Shoalhaven mayor Joanna Gash said it was recommended that residents use a reflective surface and ensure numbers are at least 75 mm in height in order to maximise attention.
“I have spoken to a number of emergency service organisations lately concerned that a large proportion of local properties are not clearly numbered,” Cr Gash said.
“Having a clearly marked, reflective and large number on your property may be the difference between life and death in an emergency.”
