This is the Wollongong love nest for sale for a cashed-up cupid.
The very private Pleasant Heights Bed and Breakfast for cooing couples is to be auctioned in November with expectations towards $2 million.
Owners John and Tracey Groeneveld renovated the existing building 10 years ago with a romantic getaway in mind.
"We bought it as a family home in 1998 and in 2002 turned it into a bed and breakfast when council was saying the city needed that sort of accommodation," Mrs Groeneveld said.
Weddings, weekend getaways and anniversaries provide the business with 50 per cent occupancy throughout the year.
The award-winning retreat, on just over half a hectare in New Mt Pleasant Road, has had visits from a string of celebrities and television shows including Getaway, hosted by Matty Johns.
One of the suites - the Sante Fe - was built by a team from Channel Seven's Room for Improvement.
The retreat has always put the emphasis on privacy.
"If a couple doesn't want to see us then we don't get in the way," Mr Groeneveld said.
Mrs Groeneveld said she and her husband often did not meet the couples.
"They can book online these days and most things they need are there in the room," she said.
Mrs Groeneveld said she and her husband appreciated privacy and they believed couples who got away to enjoy time together wanted the same.
"We've found it's valued more now because it's not easy to achieve in everyday life," she said.
"We've even had people from the street stay here for that reason."
The couple designed and built most of the work, including the Japanese garden that completes the most exclusive of the three spaces, the Pleasant Suite, with a nightly rate of $500.
The house, originally known as Larikea House, is believed to have been one of the first houses on the hill in the 1940s.
OneAgency principal Sally Absalom said the property would be soon be marketed in Sydney, Canberra and the Illawarra to those looking for a lifestyle change that could also generate an income.
"One of the selling points is that the manager's residence is of equal standard to the suites," she said.
