The Dragons fell just short of a week one finals victory but made a fine account of themselves in a golden-point thriller against the Bulldogs.
The club met on Wednesday to review the season in which they were joint competition leaders after 12 rounds and defied preseason expectations of a bottom four finish.
Nightingale said the club has taken huge steps in the past year and has built a culture the likes of Mose Masoe, Dunamis Lui, Siliva Havili and Sebastine Ikahihifo can run with.
‘‘We looked at how far we’ve come as a club in this short period of time,” Nightingale said.
‘‘We saw how much the perception we had about ourselves had changed. We’ve got a lot of belief and something to build on.
‘‘The people we’ve got coming in will see what we’ve got and definitely have something to buy into.”
