The previously maligned Dragons pack took some massive strides in 2015 after being labelled “soft” by critics during 2014.
Featuring many of the same names the club’s big men lost the battle up front on only a handful of occasions this season but struggled when a mid-season injury crisis took it’s toll.
Mulholland has added promising Melbourne utility back Kurt Mann to the roster next season but has focused most of his efforts on beefing up the club’s forward stocks with Mose Masoe, Dunamis Lui, Siliva Havili, Tyrone McCarthy and and Sebastine Ikahihifo to arrive for preseason in November.
‘‘Mose Masoe is a guy who came out of the NRL and Mary was looking for big bodies and he’s played some big minutes for St Helens,’’ Mulholland said.
‘‘We needed some size and if you complement that with Russell Packer and complement that with Leeson [Ah Mau] and Mike Cooper...we’re starting to get some big bodies in the place.
‘‘Russell grew up playing with Mose and Leeson so the three of them back together is a pretty formidable pack.
‘‘I think next contract Leeson’s going to be one of the most in-demand props in the game and we’ve got him for three years which is marvellous.
“Dunamis Lui has been one of the linchpins of the Manly side leading into semis last year so he’ll be a great acquisition as well.”
