The total amount raised over all events is set to hit $2 million by 11am on Friday – the first day of this year’s fair.
More than 80,000 quality pre-loved books ranging in price from $1 to $2000 will be on offer at the event at Illawarra Sports Stadium, Berkeley, until Sunday.
Event co-ordinator Clare Leslie said some 6000 people were expected to attend over the three days, raising in excess of $135,000.
‘’Despite new technologies, people still love the feel of a book in their hands,’’ Ms Leslie said.
‘’People love the fact that at the fair there’s a chance they can find a range of quality books, including those that are rare or out-of-print.’’
