The 46 year old has gone from ‘80s heart-throb to singing lullabies and playing with imaginary friends, and admits he loves it.
Papps has had a variety of serious acting roles over the years, but 2015 marks a decade with the iconic tv show.
“It’s certainly as fun as it looks,” he said.
Saturday he’ll be bringing mates Humpty, Jemima, and fellow Play School presenter Michelle Lim Davidson to Woonona Bulli RSL for their ‘Once Upon a Time’ show.
He said he still pinches himself after 10 years with the show - a job highly regarded and much coveted in the industry.
“The most surreal moment when I started was working with Benita Collings,” he said. “I was rehearsing with her and feeling very starstruck … and we were singing ‘I’m a Little Teapot’ together, and I just caught myself in a moment thinking ‘my God!’.”
As for for the other stars of the show, Papps revealed Big Ted is still the original and probably pushing late thirties now.
Playing Woonona Bulli RSL Saturday 10th October, then Unanderra Wests Illawarra Leagues Club Wednesday October 14th
