Ms Wran, 27, appeared in Central Local Court on Thursday via video link. She formally waived her right to a committal hearing and will go straight to trial in the NSW Supreme Court.

Ms Wran is charged with murder, wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm and robbery in company, following a botched drug deal with small-time dealer Daniel McNulty in a public housing unit in Redfern on August 10, 2014.

Her co-accused Lloyd Haines and Michael Lee also waived their right to a committal hearing and will stand trial in the Supreme Court. They are charged with murder, causing grievous bodily harm with intent to murder and robbery in company causing wounding.

Dressed in prison greens and with her hair tied back neatly, Ms Wran spoke only to confirm her identity and that she understood what had taken place in court.

Ms Wran is the youngest daughter of the late Labor great and his second wife, Jill Hickson Wran.

Mr Wran died in April last year aged 87 after suffering dementia. He was premier of NSW from 1976 to 1986. He left a fortune estimated to be worth about $40 million, largely comprising a property portfolio following a successful business career post-politics.

Ms Wran is challenging the division of his estate, alongside her brother Hugo. Mr Wran's adopted son, Glenn Wran, and his New Caledonia-born god-daughter, Helene De Poortere, have launched legal against Neville Wran's estate in the family provision list in the Supreme Court.

The parties have been ordered into mediation to be conducted by eminent jurist Keith Mason.

The court has previously heard police allege Ms Wran had gone to the high-rise block on Walker Street with Mr Lee, her boyfriend of two weeks, and Mr Haines, whom she had just met, intending to score ice from Mr McNulty, 48.

But after Ms Wran knocked on the door, it is alleged Mr Haines, in a balaclava, and Mr Lee, in a beanie, entered the unit armed with knives and a hammer and demanded: "Where is it?"

A fight broke out during which police allege Mr McNulty was stabbed once in the leg and once in the back. The second strike punctured his right lung and was fatal.

Mr McNulty's roommate, Brett Fitzgerald, went to his aid. But as he was also allegedly attacked, he found himself trying to fend off blows from the hammer with a shoe rack, police said.

Ms Wran, Mr Lee and Mr Haines then allegedly ran from the apartment.

Police were allegedly able to identify the suspects using security footage from the complex.

Mr Haines was arrested when he attended Parramatta police station on the Tuesday after the attack.

Ms Wran and Mr Lee were found by police at Liverpool train station on the Wednesday, still dressed in the clothes the CCTV footage showed them wearing on the night of the attack.

Ms Wran, Mr Lee and Mr Haines will appear in the NSW Supreme Court on November 6.
