So much so that Bianca Dye is returning to the Illawarra airwaves at Midday to help 96.5 Wave FM breakfast announcers Emma & Travis discuss the issue.
Dye is becoming known as an ambassador for the Mental Health Foundation and is joining pair she used to compete for ratings against for a cause that is very dear to her heart.
WAVE FM breakfast announcer Travis Winks said it was a special occasion that was bringing them all together for a very important reason.
“We are running an hour long Hot Breakfast Special this Friday from noon,’’ he said.
Dye is the special guest on the program and welcome the opportunity to get back on local radio in the Illawarra after seven years as a breakfast announcer at rival station i98fm.
Winks said the program would include a chat to Dr Michael Carr-Gregg who is one of Australia's most high-profile psychologists.
They will also be talking to Black Dog sufferer and Rose Tattoo front man Angry Anderson.
‘’He opens up about the demons he's lived with since he was a little boy,’’ Winks said.
It is also an issue close to Wave FM Hot Breakfast co-host Emma Bennett’s heart.
She suffered post natal depression after the birth of her second son eight years ago and still suffers today.
Winks said he had a number of family members suffer from depression.
He said all three of his siblings and his mother have really battled to survive over the last 23 years.
Dye is planning to talk about her battle with anxiety and mental health in general.
The popular radio and television personality help launch Mental Health Month recently with a commercial-free three-hour radio show broadcast across Australia on 42 stations with The Hit Network.
That involved interviewing celebrities such as Demi Lovato, Hugh Jackman, Ricky Martin, Osher Gunsberg, Ashley Hart, Nick Bracks, Olly Murrs, Troy Sivan. Anja Nissen and Mia Freedman..
The program called Press Pause was about raising awareness for mental health and checking in with youth.
It looked at issues ranging from anxiety and depression, to peer and social media bullying.
Dye has been public about her own battle with anxiety and is keen to take every opportunity to give a voice to what she regards as very important topics.
