Steff Wills from the Coniston Unit will feature in the six-part series alongside six other brave souls, taking a behind-the-scenes look at their often intense and dangerous life-saving work in challenging conditions.
“Not only does [it] capture the big hearts of SES volunteers like Steff, it aims to help people understand the risks associated with severe storms. The show also provides practical tips and advice for being safer and reducing property damage,” said NSW SES Commissioner Adam Dent.
The program is from a partnership between NRMA Insurance and the NSW SES.
Storm season predominantly occurs between October and March, with NRMA research showing many people significantly underestimate the dangers of a severe storm. During April’s severe weather the insurance company fielded over 50,000 storm related claims alone.
