These half-wit advertisers spoil television.
Maybe they are only aimed at five-year-olds.
Very annoying.

SPRING INTO ACTION
With all the recent talk about tourist ships making use of Port Kembla harbour, it just might spring our council into action.
First on the list is the scrap metal business at Five Islands Road, Cringila, where operators have been making use of the footpath, traffic island and roadway to accumulate scrap metal and vehicles for many years.
Such a wonderful sight for the tourists driving past into Wollongong in their coaches.
I think not.
I've reported it to three different parking officers of the years and nothing happens.
Now's the time to start doing something.
Nearby factories and businesses have been doing their share and it's time for Council input.

HOW SAD, TOO BAD
Shellharbour City Council, the writing's on the wall.
How sad, too bad.
You have no concern for ratepayers wishes.
Be gone.

UNREASONABLE ASSUMPTION
To base claims that Shellharbour City Council is operating inefficiently (D. Chalker, October 17) on IPART's declaration that it is 'not fit' for the future is an unreasonable assumption.
We are being condemned for forecasting an operating deficit in 2019-20, despite showing that it is possible for us to rectify this by 2021-22.
This is because the methodology applied to the assessment is for the next five years and not six.
Our submission to the tribunal showed that we satisfied five of the seven criteria, including 'scale and capacity', 'infrastructure and service management' and 'efficiency'.
As a result, it is not one of the councils that have been asked to submit merger plans to the State Government by 18 November.
Mayor of Shellharbour City, Cr Marianne Saliba, Shellharbour
NOT ALL IT SEEMS
Has anybody seen the Illawarra Toyota ad with that fantastic looking coupe at the beginning?
I have several times and despite numerous enquiries to aforementioned company, can get no reasonable answer.
I want to buy that car.
It looks fantastic, but nobody can tell me where I can get one.
If it is a used car then why lead an ad that blatantly shows every other new model Toyota?
If it is a corporate ad then Toyota need a rap over the knuckles for not detailing ``overseas model’’ depicted, (not available in Australia).

DRAGONS CONGRATULATED
If we are to capitalise on our second chances, the St George Illawarra Dragons should be commended on how they have assisted in 'reforming' the careers and lives of known 'bad boys'.
Wendell Sailor and Josh Dugan notably have taken their second chances with both hands through the support of the Dragons' network. If the same can be said for Russell Packer, the system in place at the club should be celebrated.
Although topical, there is no doubt that once an individual proves they want and are willing to redeem themselves, they should be given the opportunity.
