The 54-year-old male cyclist was taken to Wollongong Hospital with serious head injuries and died a short time later.
The male driver wasn’t injured but taken to hospital to undergo mandatory blood and urine testing.
“They were travelling in the same direction and the bike crossed into the path of the other vehicle,” Wollongong police Acting Inspector Paul Hoyer said of witness accounts.
“If there’s any witnesses out there, we obviously want to speak with them.”
