The Illawarra Mercury has reported on virtually every significant event in the region and around the world for 160 years. So it engaged Relativity to produce a short film now being aired on television and in the cinema.
Katrina Rautenberg was the model. Her hair was done by Leigh Mathews and make-up by Isabella Heritage. Working on the project for Relativity was Gerardo Ceres, Keean Murrell Snape, Kira Jade, Nathan Chapman and Mariana Zurak.
The Illawarra Mercury was established by Thomas Garrett and W. F. Cahill in 1855.
The Illawarra Mercury Our History commercial was shot on August 22 in Relativity’s new studios in Kenny Street.
The release coincided with anniversary of the newspaper’s first issue being circulated on October 8, 1855.
Initially it was published once a week then increased to twice weekly in 1929. During the 1930’s the depression forced it to revert to a weekly publication and in 1950 it became a daily.
