The Bomaderry BC legend says his recent induction into the Bowls Australia Hall of Fame will be one of his great honours in a much decorated career.
The 81-year-old was flown up to Surfers Paradise for the Hall of Fame ceremeony.
“This is one of the greatest honour that an individual can get in sport, as it recognises their effort, achievements and commitment to their chosen sport,’’ King said.
King only took up bowls seriously at age 42 and went on to win the the Australian singles and pairs titles, five state titles and represened Australia at the 1974 Christchurch Commonwealth Games, where he secured a silver medal.
He has also represented NSW on 175 different occasions, won 23 club singles, seven city masters singles and won Bomaderry’s last three singles crowns.
