After dropping the first set 6-2 Fisher and Kelly fought back to claim the second 6-4 to force the match to a tie-breaker in scorching conditions at Beaton Park before Polmans and De Waard produced a run of six straight points to eventually claim the super tie-breaker 10-7.
It was a big effort from Polmans who earlier forced his way into the semi-finals via an epic three-and-a-half hour battle with sixth seed Jacob Grills.
After surrendering the first set 6-3 Polmans fought his way back to force a second set tie-breaker that he took out 7-1.
With the clock ticking past the three-hour mark the scores were again locked at six games all forcing another tie-breaker where a Grills double fault opened the door for Polmans to claim the match 3-6, 7-6, 7-6.
Kelly also backed up for the doubles final after advancing to the semi-finals in the singles in straight sets 6-2, 6-1 over fellow Australian Zach Itzstein.
Czech second seed Robin Stanek also advanced 6-2, 7-6 over German seventh seed Sebastian Fensalow while fifth seed Maverick Banes accounted for wild card Daniel Nolan 6-1 6-1.
Stanek will face Kelly in the first semi-final on Saturday at 10am with the all-Aussie match-up between Banes and Polmans to follow.
