The Butcher Boys, made up of some of the club’s Fourth Grade Gold team and former players will take on the "Lucky Stars Australia" Transplant Cricket Team in a 50 over match.
The Lucky Stars will be skippered by Butchers stalwart Pat Nolan, with former Butcher Phil Muhlbauer to lead the Butcher Boys.
Nolan received a kidney from his sister Patrice nine years ago and says the match will showcase the positive impact of organ donation.
‘‘Cricket is a great way for people to get a basic understanding of what having a transplant, be it a pretty basic kidney transplant like mine, to liver or heart transplants, do for people,’’ Nolan said.
‘‘To play cricket again for many of these transplant patents is pretty amazing.’’
New Zealand rugby star Jonah Lomu’s passing last week following a failed kidney transplant in 2011 and years on dialysis highlights the vital role of organ donation for those battling kidney, liver, heart and other conditions.
The match starts at 10am, with a barbecue through the day and everyone welcome.
