The trainer’s gun sprinter Leeroy Roller will run in the semi-finals of Group 2 Dapto Puppy Auction Classic (520m) after progressing through last week’s heats in hot time.
Leeroy Roller wasn’t far off Fantastic Dotty’s track record when he posted a time of 29.43secs to win by nine lengths.
“I was quite optimistic with the one box that we would improve on a race surface but he probably went a little bit quicker than I expected to be honest,” Crawford said.
Leeroy Roller will jump from box seven in the first of four semi-finals on Thursday night. Pantera Nera (box eight), Absolute Gunn (box five) and Nobu (box one) look the main dangers.
“The eight looks as though it is boxed the right way in the race and that is my main concern that we will get crowded,” Crawford said.
“Inside draw is where I would rather be and they are certainly very competitive semis so I wouldn’t be surprised to see any type of outcome from it.”
George Micallef took out the final last year with Bertacious Bee.
