Because it was 'domestic violence assault only', according to the reported comments of the police prosecutor.
That four letter word ``only’’ should have no place at all in a statement by anyone about domestic violence, let alone in a situation where a woman died.
How many more women need to die in order to change behaviours and this sort of language?

After a wonderful exhibition day at the late May Barrie's property at Calderwood.
The sculptures there are magnificent and most of them for sale.
The Wollongong City Council having ex-amount of dollars to spend on art and sculptures for the mall should be looking there instead of spending money overseas.

SOME CARE NEEDED
An all too common observation.
So many treeless and waterless paddocks stacked with cows, horses and their young with no protection from the hot sun.
With ample rainfall in most of these coastal areas, why are there no trees or dams on these properties?
Very simple additions.
Thoughtful treatment and consideration by these heartless owners is long overdue.
There is no excuse for such cruel neglect.

NO LONGER ‘’FOR’’ THE PEOPLE
The concluding words of Lincoln’s famous Gettysburg address: “that we here highly resolve that these dead shall not have died in vain – that this nation, under God, shall have a new birth of freedom – and that government of the people, by the people, for the people, shall not perish from the earth”.
Simple sincere words no longer evident as a ruling tenet in conservative political ideology; it is no longer government of the people, by the people, for the people.
The theme has changed to – government by the banks and corporations, for investors and shareholders, for the banks and corporations.
Governments and cabinet ministers: organisers and promoters of growth – not for Treasury – but private enterprise.
Government no longer are in the game of marketing Australian products or investing in academic research.
They cut spending and rely on foreign investment with the enticement of huge tax concessions.
So where do the people come in?
The people are the ones that pay the bills.
The WestConnex motorway is a great example: An eight year project that will see motorists paying tolls for 43 years.

This is a great diversion to all the other issues that the ratepayers are upset about. The HUB for one. Sorry, civic centre and the closure of services, all while our rates have increased dramatically over the last few years. Don’t worry everyone, we get to vote them out soon. ILLAWARRA RENTERS SUFFERING HOUSING STRESS
What does the community expect when you have a Labor Government who embarked on a bigger Australia and a developers delight in building units and then selling them off to foreign investors who in turn rented them to young struggling Australians at high rental. It has been continued by the current Liberal Government who are subsidising developers.
