Australian Defence Force (ADF) personnel will be responsible for the unusual sights and sounds – part of annual counter-terrorism training to be held in the region and western Sydney.
The Department of Defence says the training will be conducted at civilian facilities and people may notice military helicopters, vehicles and personnel in the area.
Along with the helicopters and blank gun fire, pyrotechnics and other associated noises are likely to be heard.
“The training will involve ADF members conducting responses to simulated terrorist incidents around critical infrastructure,” the department said in a statement. “If the public observes or hears such activities, they should not be alarmed.”
For security reasons, no further information about the training can be released.
