The eighth year series brings competitors across nine divisions to the South Coast to battle it out in the surf.

Good conditions are expected across the weekend which will be hosted by the Mollymook Surf Lifesaving Club.

The event will run simultaneously to rounds one and two of the series held at Coffs Harbour on Saturday and Sunday.

NSW Navy ASRL President Bert Hunt believes both events will be packed with competitive racing.

He expects another strong contingent of Illawarra and Sydney clubs will contest the Mollymook leg of the series.

“It will be interesting to see how the numbers stack up an early indication looks as if there should be about 100-150 crews which is a lot,” Hunt said.

“It looks like there won’t be any major sea conditions that would disrupt it so we should get some pretty strong racing.

“In those conditions, the best prepared crews and the fastest crews win the day.”

The event is one of the NSW selection trials for the Navy ASRL Interstate Championships at Shellharbour in February.

Rowers at the event will also go in the running to win a prize.

“We have a brand new surf boat up for grabs so by people attending and wearing their Navy gear, they get to get a token to go into the draw,” Hunt said.

North Cronulla, Queenscliff and Manly will also host rounds this summer.
