The 19-year-old from Dapto captured the heart of the nation to win the reality television show X-Factor.

As our front page says, he now has the world at his feet.

And quite clearly it couldn't have happened to a nicer bloke.

It was great to see the people of the region really get behind Cyrus.

After Cyrus’ win last night we created a post on Facebook which has reached almost 90,000 people in less than 24 hours.

The Facebook post had many likes. shares and comments.

It now seems Sony will have our Cyrus very busy trying to get an album out before Christmas.

When he does get a chance to return to the Illawarra he will return as a favoured son.

You get the impression he will not only be a star for a long time, but a great ambassador for our region abroad.

Cyrus’s mum Tracie yesterday commented: “Lots of people have said it’s just so nice to see good things in the paper for a change.”
