A man who was hiding a pistol in his bedside drawer has been charged after he allegedly sexually assaulted a woman in Chatswood.

A 41 year-old man visited his 31 year-old female friend at her home on Wednesday where he allegedly spiked her soft drink and sexually assaulted her.
Police from North Shore Local Area Command arrested the man just after 7am on Friday.
They discovered a .22 calibre pistol in his bedside drawer after they executed a search warrant at his home.
The man was charged with sexual intercourse without consent, giving the woman an intoxicating substance in order to commit an indictable offence, possessing an unauthorised pistol, possessing an unregistered firearm and not keeping a firearm safely.
He was granted strict conditional bail and will appear before Hornsby Local Court on Wednesday 16 December.
