Newcastle made 9/257 (Pat Darwen and Grant Stewart 55) with Southern 8/254 in reply. Oak Flats pair Michael Arblaster (48) and Ben Mitchell (46) top-scored.
Meanwhile, Berry Shoalhaven Heads will face Northern Districts in rd 4 of the Country Cup following wins on Sunday. Berry (158) beat Corrimal (87), while Northern Districts (3/67) beat Wollongong (66).
Jamal Banfield took 4-14 and Jackson Stewart 3-9 for Norths, while promising wicketkeeper Jono Keyes took two catches on debut and became the youngest Butchers first grader at 14 years, 10 months, 20 days.
Finally, in Sunday’s South Coast One Day finals, Oak Flats (4-65, Scott McAndrew 26no) defeated Shellharbour (64 all-out) to win the First Grade title.
The Rats Nathan Morrow was man-of-the-match, taking 7-29 in a brilliant spell.
In the Second Grade final The Rail overcame Kiama.
