Wollongong Central customers were left in a panic Saturday afternoon after the Keira building emergency alarm was triggered around 1:50pm.

One shopper said her young daughter was petrified, as were other small children with their parents.
After the fire brigade was called it was found a smoke detector in the level two carpark lobby triggered the alarm due to a fault.
A spokesperson for the shopping centre said “the situation was resolved quickly and the centre was reopened to trade as normal within 15 minutes”.
