Dog bites man on Wollongong beach
A 75-year-old man was rushed into surgery after he was bitten by a dog at a Wollongong beach on Sunday. The man was walking along City Beach, adjacent to Ross Street, when he was attacked by the large dog about 7am.

Inspector Jim Fryday, from Wollongong police, said the dog was with its owner but not on a leash. “It bit him on the leg, in the left shin area, causing major damage to calf and shin,” he said. The man suffered significant blood loss.
The dog, whose breed is unknown, was impounded.
