When Ashleigh Fiorio, 25, of Flinders, headed to the annual Greenacres Ball on Friday little did she know the surprise waiting for her.

Ashleigh has worked at Greenacres since she was 19. She has gone to the ball at the Fraternity Club many times. But this year was very different. Waiting for her were Greenacres ambassador Bianca Dye and Steve Melchior, of Just Cruisin Harley Tours.
Melchior had only flown back from China hours earlier but that did not stop him doing what he loves most. Surprising people and putting smiles on faces.
For Bianca and Ashleigh it was also a chance to sing a favourite song they have performed together at the Music Makers. And the X-Factor fan kept singing Mustang Sally with her friend through the streets of Fairy Meadow.
“It was fun,” she said.
Nothing could wipe the smile from her face. It began as soon as she saw the tall motorcycle riding Santa on his three-wheeled sleigh. It was a German built trike with Ford motor that is popular for tours around the Illawarra. Melchior is already widely regarded as a jolly handlebar moustached ambassador for tourism in the region. The former Qantas engineer is now looking forward to more opportunities to put smiles on faces this Christmas. And Dye is busy planning her next surprise.

Wollongong buildings are winners
Illawarra builder Pupovac Constructions has taken out the Best Commercial Building $10 million to $20 million category at the Master Builders NSW Excellence in Construction Awards.
The win was for work on the new taxation building at 45-53 Kembla Street, Wollongong.
Other projects to receive awards were the Wollongong Central West Keira Retail Development winning the Best Retail Buildings-New Building $50 million and Over category for builder Hansen Yuncken.
The Wollongong Central West Keira Retail Development won awards for best use of concrete and best use of timber. The Crown Street Mall Refurbishment Project was also nominated and Lahey Constructions took out the Best Civil Engineering Projects $10 million to $20 million category.
Scouts coming to Wollongong
Scouts from around the world will arrive in Appin in early January for the 24th Australian Jamboree.
AJ2016 is being held at Cataract Scout Park from January 3 to 14. It will involve more than 8.500 Scouts and around 2000 Scout leaders from Australia and 30 other countries.
