Fifty years ago, in 1962, 150 students assembled at Wollongong Technical College to begin their training to be primary and infants' teachers.
They were the pioneer session of Wollongong Teachers College, but at that time the college was still green fields. It was not until the following year that the block of eight lecture rooms and an administration block was occupied by the students.
There are many fond memories of those early years among the Pioneer Session. The Pioneer Foundation Group of 1962 and 1963 is eager to contact fellow students to invite them (and their partners) to join a reunion at Wollongong University on September 29-30, 2012.
