Illawarra Academy of Sport graduate Caleb Ewan has captured silver in the 129km junior men's road race at the World Road Cycling Championships in the Netherlands.
Slovenia's Matej Mohoric kicked at the top of the final climb in Limburg on Sunday to finish several lengths ahead with Ewan - from the Southern Highlands - leading the rest of the riders home.
"That was pretty disappointing for me but I think I will come out stronger next time," Ewan said.
"The race really had to go my way for me to win it.
"We had another four strong guys [in our team] that could have won this race.
"We went in with the one plan to try to get me the win and I really can't thank them enough. Silver is OK, I guess."
