Former Wests Tigers coach Tim Sheens.
Tim Sheens has been removed as Wests Tigers coach, club chairman Dave Trodden said today.
The club has announced a restructure of its football department with the Tigers searching for a new head coach.
Trodden told a media conference this afternoon that Sheens has been offered a new role at the club which he has yet to accept or decline.
Tigers chief executive Stephen Humphreys said that the club has not been in contact with any potential replacement including former Dragons coach Nathan Brown.
Humphreys told the media conference Sheens was disappointed by the decision and the club would give him as long as he needed to make his mind up about the new role. Senior Tigers players were advised of the news just before the press conference.
He said that he was unaware of any discussion between Sheens and the New Zealand Warriors as the Auckland-based club searches for a replacement for Brian McLennan who was dumped in August.
Sheens has coached the Tigers for 10 years and delivered the joint venture's only premiership success in 2005 but has came under pressure to keep his role as the end of this season when the club failed to make the finals after starting 2012 as title favourites.
Sheens is due to coach Australia against New Zealand in Townsville next month.
